Connectico iPhone Voice Over IP App26 July 2015
Connectico is a voice over IP (VOIP) iOS app. The thing that makes it different from similar well knowns apps, which provide functionality such as calling other people in your address book and displaying a list of recent calls, is that you can easily rent local numbers in many international markets and use them immediately. Managing local numbers overseas is seamless and all done from inside the app. This means people can call you on a number local to them and the call gets routed to the app on your iPhone and the same in reverse, you can choose a number based almost anywhere in the word to call from, all from within the app.
Run An Empire iPhone Game / Fitness App09 February 2015
Run An Empire is an amazing digital mobile experience which crosses over territory game and fitness app. The idea represents one of the best examples of new thinking enabled by mobile devices and is at the same time fun and good for you. There aren’t too many things in the world that can claim to be that! Towards the end of 2014 I spent a few months working on an iOS version with Pan Studio.
Video Social Network Mobile App10 January 2014
In my time as a freelance iOS programmer I've come across two trends, true for both iPad and iPhone projects. Firstly there is a lot of contract work for apps that are preparing to look for funding and do not necessarily go into Apple's App Store at the end of the development cycle. Secondly there is a lot of contract work rescuing projects that begun life outsourced to off shore developers. Although Playfolly, a video social network mobile app, eventually has made it to the Appstore both of these are true for the work I did for them (see last year's Two Factor Authentication iOS Consulting for another example).
The Craftsman iPad Game 11 November 2013
Very recently the world's first thriller for the iPad hit Apple's App Store. The Craftsman is an immersive digital, plugged in to The Internet, experience which was born out of the answering the question "How would Alfred Hitchcock tell a story today"? Earlier this year I was hired as an Objective-C developer to join the team Portal Entertainment, a London startup, put together to produce an early version.
MeatUp | Native iPhone App24 May 2013
Rarebreed, a London digital agency, recently arrived at the place all agencies visit where they wanted to create something for themselves rather than for a client. Something the design team could sink their teeth into. They chose to build an iPhone App which they could use internally with clients when scheduling meetings and they asked me to develop it.
Groupstr | Native iOS Application08 April 2013
Written in Objective-C, Groupstr is a native iPad app aimed at users of Flickr Groups which you can download from Apple's Appstore. Should you not have a Flickr account or any Groups associated with your account, I have set up some demonstration credentials. Username : groupstr_tester and Password : gr0upstr_t3st3r, let me know how you get on. If you are looking to hire a London based freelance iOS developer I have also included are details of the concepts I covered, and tools used, while building this app on this blog post.
Web Interface for an SAP Application with ExtJS07 January 2013
SAP is the biggest technology company that most people have never heard of. In August 2012 SAP overtook Siemans AG and became Germany's most valuable public company. In the enterprise database market SAP are second only to Oracle and they have plans to change that. Part of their plan is to work with smaller dynamic technology partners as they seek to find a competitive innovation edge.
Interactive Exhibition Stand Software30 August 2012
Prior to 2012 I had never considered one of the types of projects a programmer could contribute to is the creation of interactive exhibition stand software. As is turns out if you do not have a digital element to your stand in many exhibitions these days you won't be standing out in a space where everyone is competing for delegates' attention.
Mobile Note App Built With Sencha Touch29 June 2012
Following on from my research into the differences between native or cross platform mobile phone / tablet development I decided to build an app that would run on both an Android phone and my iPhone. I chose to develop it using Sencha Touch (and PhoneGap) as this framework easily lends itself to similar application architecture encountered when undertaking Flex application development with Robotlegs or PureMVC.
Ubuntu : Desktop Adobe Air Applications31 October 2011
Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, one of the world's most popular Linux distributions, has teamed up with Dell to make roads in to the Chinese personal computer market, which has recently become the largest market in this sector in the world.
Ubuntu's latest version 11.10 will be available pre installed on a range of Dell machines and Canonical has planned a number of strategies to convince consumers that Ubuntu is as good as any operating system they can choose from.
In addition to the operating system a number of applications are preinstalled on the machines to immediately meet the needs of people taking them home. Two of these applications I am proud to say were developed by myself using Adobe Air.
