European Patent Office Logo
Last year I was approached by the European Patent Office and asked whether I could help them with their plans to produce a mobile version of their Espacenet product. The proposal provides an interesting case study in the type of consultancy that precedes the production phase of enterprise grade mobile applications..

Espacenet offers free access to more than 70 million patent documents worldwide, containing information about inventions and technical developments from 1836 to today.

Information in this market, like many others, is being very efficiently indexed by Google and The EPO wanted to produce a mobile application which would bolster their offering, bring in new customers and ensure their datastore's status as the premier data store for European patents.

I partnered with Connected Futures and we submitted a proposed route to developing the collateral that would enable The EPO to reach their goal. The ideas and processes described here are a combined effort between Jaimes Nel of Connected Futures and myself.
